Oberlin Police Explorer Post 478 The Oberlin Police Department Explorer Post 478 has been in existence for 26 years. Explorers are open to males and females, ages 14 - 20 years, with interest in law enforcement and community service. Currently, Explorer Post 478 is comprised of members from the Oberlin, Amherst, and Firelands School Districts Members are trained and perform with uniformed officer supervision, traffic and crowd control details for special City events, along with civilian fingerprinting and bicycle registration. Do you need to be “fingerprinted” for your employment? Would you like to have your bicycle registered and licensed? The Oberlin Police Explorer Post 478 can come to your aid. Explorers are available to perform civilian fingerprinting and bicycle registration every Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. and Saturday from 10:00 AM to noon. Appointments are not needed, but you must provide proper identification (photo ID driver’s license, etc.) for fingerprints. Bicycle registration requires your bike’s serial number and identifying features.
